No, we would not recommend getting a Windows Phone (WP) handset now, as WP8 has recently been announced.
Along with the unveiling of Microsoft's next-generation operating
system, we found out that current WP7.5 handsets will not be upgraded to
WP8, but receive an update to WP7.8
instead. This brings with it features such as a different start screen,
near-field communications (NFC) capabilities and support for multi-core
processors.
Rumor has it that handsets featuring Microsoft's latest smartphone operating system are expected to launch around November.
So unless you don't mind an incremental upgrade, we recommend holding
out for the first wave of new WP8 devices--or consider handsets running
on other OSes instead.
